Go Fly a Kite

with your family!

It’s the end of summer and before you dive headfirst into the new school year here’s an idea to enjoy with your family.

I have never flown a kite in my life, but this past Saturday our family had a picnic dinner at Shelby Farms Park, here in Memphis, TN, with a kite. We bought a nice very inexpensive kite from Wal Mart, made a few hot dogs with chips and headed to the park with our kite.

It was a warm evening. Who am I kidding? It was hot, but we went anyway.  (Did you read my post on staying cool summer ideas?)

None of us have ever flown a kite before so we had no idea what we were doing. It took a few moments but we figured it out. There’s always a way to learn and this was one way we learned something new as a family – and it was fun!

I don’t know about you but simple things like this make me so happy. Learning how to fly a kite with my family with a picnic dinner totally made our day. My husband Omar even joked while we were there, “Why is it that hot dog’s taste better when at the park?” I don’t know but it was a fun family evening and I am so happy we did something different.

Do you enjoy doing things that are different?

I know you love your family so…

…before you head back to school and your busy crazy life begins, enjoy a few more summer evenings as a family – and Go Fly a Kite!

Philippians 4:4 “Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.”

Acts 16:31 “They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.”

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”
